Generally speaking, we look at the sources of chi (the "virtual rivers" such as motorways, train lines, roads and airports) and how to place housing developments and commercial zones most appropriately within the network of streets. One way systems, for example, need to be carefully decided upon as they can have disastrous effects for commerce.
Admittedly, we are more limited in listed homes, but we work with 64 different directions and the full 360 degrees of the compass, so we can certainly find areas in your home to activate for good effect without the need for structural or style changes. Even a listed front door can be re-hung by a few degrees to change the energy flow.
We go into more detail than "pop" feng shui, which talks only about interiors and corners (relationship and money corners), colours, pot plants and decluttering. This is all relevant and sometimes these "pop" cures work, because they anchor a persons intent. For more complex cases we consider this method to be insufficient. And it is limited to interiors and cannot deal with construction sites or the timing aspect of feng shui. It can be compared to "microwave" feng shui, whereas our Chue style is oven roasted!
Intuitive consultants pick up psychic vibrations from a property and this informs their decision about what advice to give. In general, they tend only to have a basic understanding of basic feng shui systems. We respect intuitive feng shui consultants for their sensitivity and dedication, but we see that they could improve their results by having the technical knowledge too. We like to use our right brain functions of intuition and gut feeling too, but we can combine this with the more left brain logical information provided by our compasses. In this way you have a balanced, neutral and more objective view of the property and in the long term we consider this to be more useful to the client.
Yes, we work with several experienced, professional architectural practices that have the time to look after our clients properly. Should our contacts not be suitable for the project at hand, then we will contact RIBA and find the necessary skills for you.
You will usually be visited by the lead consultant Sarah McAllister and now and again she will ask your permission to bring students with her.
We work Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm. Consultations are occasionally available at the weekends. Where possible we select good auspicious days from the Chinese Almanac to conduct our consultations. Seasonal and weather conditions may also dictate the timing of her visit and we prefer to make an early start.
Your consultant is likely to be Sarah McAllister and she will require anything between 3 and 7 hours at your property depending on the complexity of the consultation. You don't need to be there all the time. She will require about 20 mins. with you at the start and if possible approx. 30mins. to an hour to wrap up and show you her recommendations. She likes to take a lunch break in private to recharge and return to the site with a fresh perspective. You can go about your daily routine as usual.
After meeting with you, having a look around the surrounding neighborhood and gauging the layout of the building, we then like to take compass measurements in a very quiet and unhurried way. This is followed by some quiet time in a room alone to perform our calculations, which provide more insight into the strengths and weaknesses of a building and the corresponding effects this is having or is likely to have on the inhabitants or business. It is preferable for Sarah to work uninterrupted in order to retain the flow of the consultation.
If you wish, you can have up to 15 minutes of asking questions about why we have recommended certain changes, but please be aware that while we appreciate your interest, we cannot distill our 4 years of theoretical knowledge into language that you will readily understand. We encourage you to come on our courses if you wish to find out more. In our follow up support we will tell you why we want things the way we want them but not the theory behind it. It is just too time consuming to provide lots of detail. We want to focus on looking after our clients, not on explaining our professional skill!
No. The dynamic between the consultant and the energy matrix of the home is very sensitive and having the owner present during key analytical processes disturbs the chi.
We encourage you to make changes, as your chi energy and your intention are very important to the process. On the day we can help you to move beds and desks etc. If you haven't the time to carry out the changes yourself, you can pay us to source any necessary materials and make the changes for you. For a separate fee we will source any special items and can arrange for the changes to be carried out. It is less costly for you to make the changes yourself, and your personal action is more powerful as it demonstrates your own commitment and responsibility to and for the process. We quite often find ourselves shifting beds and desks by a few degrees where practical in order that you are aligned with a direction most suited to your elemental requirements. This is based on your year of birth and sometimes even on your unique time of birth. We also may ask you to move plants, mirrors and lamps to different parts of a room and give you an insight into why we consider the change important.
Yes, our reports aim to be jargon free and are brief and succinct. In our experience we find that lengthy reports can be de-motivating for some clients. It depends on your personality. Some people like the detail and some people feel overwhelmed by it.
All domestic consultations will conclude with a summary of key observations and recommended actions and you will either take notes, or be left a list of actions. If you require a full report an extra fee of £100 is levied because they are very time-consuming to prepare. These can act as a reference for you in the future, but we believe there is no time like the present, and clients are better motivated by a brief succinct report. Your energy and the energy of your home or office changes over time, so your report may grow out of date quite quickly.
Depending on the complexity of the engagement, in-depth, more detailed reports with photographs, drawings, and a schedule for changes can be provided for an additional fee. The rest is up to you! The consultation acts as a motivating impetus for you to make real change in your life or business. And selecting an appropriate date to carry out a change, get married or launch a new business or initiative will make these events and changes much more powerful.
