Feng Shui Interior Design and Refurbishments

Where style and beauty create true wellness

Despite Brexit uncertainty, London is still a thriving capital and homes are being bought, refurbished and extended over and over again. The nature of life is to move, to expand and to evolve. And I am pleased to be part of a growing movement of ‘wellness architecture’ which prioritises the health of a building, in all it’s aspects. From the materials used to the layout and energy flow, and even the effects of a project on the local economy.

BUT, the vast majority of work is carried out without any health or feng shui awareness.

Harmful chemicals are used in the adhesives, synthetic materials used that off-gas VOCs (volatile organic compounds – don’t be mislead by the ‘organic’ part of this – they aren’t good compounds!) and air conditioning systems put in that actually create a stifling atmosphere and cause bacterial build up.

Not to mention the unseen energies are not being taken into consideration – I get it, I really do – most people are too busy with the visible pile of “To Do” tasks that having the time or conscious awareness enough to consider ‘invisible energies’ like feng shui seems like a ‘nice to have’ rather than an essential. Today, there is a growing awareness about issues like invisible microwave radiation and the emissions from portable telephones, mobile phones, laptops, iPads and computers. People are starting to be aware about the impact of waves of energy that we can’t see and looking to protect themselves against Electrosmog. For further information see this blog post on Grounding Mats and this page on Electromagnetic Deficiency syndrome.

And some conscious and wonderful souls are awake enough to consider ancient methods such as classical Feng Shui and how it can help you design a home or office for peace, plenty, restfulness, productivity, harmony and health.

Smart, intelligent people can see how having a certain level of sophistication in the space around them is good for their mindset and their mood and wellbeing. These people are my ideal clients because they also take it one step further by hiring me to do a feng shui assessment BEFORE they refurbish or extend a property, not after. I can’t tell you the amount of times I have had people call me up and say ‘we just had planning permission granted, can you help us with the feng shui?’ (yes) or ‘we just finished our refurbishment and now want to get you round to do the feng shui’ (groan)…

The calls that are music to my ears are “My friend told me about you, and we want you to help us look for the best plot of land to build our dream home, and then help us design it all from scratch” or “I want you to help us redesign our home before we seek planning permission”

I am always happy to re-educate those who think that feng shui is a case of me wafting about a home for a few hours, placing a few crystals, advising a few pot plants and issuing them with a standard pre-prepared report. This is what the media like to portray because it is simplistic and stereotypical etc.

As with most things in life, there is always much more than meets the eye. I need to do the full consultation on the entire property even if I am just helping with the basement redesign, for example.

The interior design fengshui is also very detailed and usually based not just on the feng shui of the property but also on the horoscope charts of the occupants. Even when people have different charts that need different elemental support (water, wood, fire, earth or metal) there can be common ground, so that we create a design that supports the whole family in one way or another.

So before you spend hundreds of thousands, or in some cases millions on a refurbishment only to find that the energy somehow feels ‘off’ and no-one in the family can sleep, I highly recommend you book in for a complimentary discovery call with me to see how my feng shui knowledge can help your renovation be a wellness success, rather than a disaster.
