From Grand Designs magazine, take a look at this incredible home just outside of Karuizawa, Japan. Designed by architect Kotaro Ide, it simply breathes an inherent harmony with its environment. It is a wonderful example of successfully combining organic curves with linear detailing and I just love the way the design of roof creates such beautifully tranquil views from the interior. Love it! Definitely one for my vision board!

2011 Chinese Animal Forecast - Year of the Metal Rabbit

How the natural forces of the universe affect the energies of the year is a fascinating subject called forecasting and refers to our Heaven Luck. I prefer the term forecast rather than prediction as I consider it more accurate and it also creates more psychological space to harness our Human Luck in order to better weather the forecast whereas prediction somehow sounds too final. We are never meant to feel victimized by the forecasts as this creates self-fulfilling prophecies, however, if we are forewarned we are forearmed and can fine-tune our strategies.
Feng Shui is often misunderstood as being somehow mystical or requiring magic powers. At its very core Feng Shui is the understanding of yin and yang, contraction and expansion, death and rebirth and all the endless variations of yin/yang.
We are approaching the Winter Solstice,  one of the major energetic turning points of the year as the longest night (yin) greets the return of the Sun (yang) and the days become longer. From a Chinese metaphysics perspective, the forces of yin and yang are the building blocks of the/your universe because they represent the dynamics of birth, death and the ever changing cycle of natural energy.
