Not many people want to add Chinese symbols into their home as they can look a bit out of place. I never ask a Feng Shui client to use many 'trinkets' at all - maybe a Buddha statue or a red paper charm here and there and a symbolic piece of Western (or Oriental) artwork, but otherwise Feng Shui is about unblocking energy in the environment, not adding 'stuff'.
Quick update to say just how important it is to follow feng shui advice, whether you believe in it or not...
A young family hired me in November, all excited about owning their first home - they moved in and the poor little boy got really ill. I was shocked.
This affected his mother and her ability to work and earn.
She got in touch with me in February, explained the ill health, and I immediately set to work to figure out what might have gone wrong...
It was a first for me to be described as a 'fixer fairy' but I think it is rather endearing... For those of you who regularly read Natural Health magazine you can find me in the December issue on page 123 along with a few other lifestyle experts.
Does this time of year freak you out a little? Do you feel grateful for the year just past by? Or do you feel secretly afraid that if you don't 'get it right this time' then another year will see your initial hopes and dreams die?
Do you listen to knowledge outside of yourself and then regret it? Do you get attracted to mentoring programs then find that they simply cannot provide bespoke enough advice and don't really teach you more than you already know?
In the Northern hemisphere we are hunkering down in good old British style, coats all buttoned up, hoods and collars grasped close as we head out into the chill winds on these short days that are getting darker and darker. Many people have a physical reaction to the reduction in light called SAD or Seasonal Affective Disorder, which can give rise to feelings of depression and despair simply because the body is not receiving enough daylight.
Modern research shows increasingly how we have a relationship between our body and light via the transfer of biophotons - "indeed, the human body emits biophotons, also known as ultraweak photon emissions (UPE), with a visibility 1,000 times lower than the sensitivity of our naked eye. While not visible to us, these particles of light (or waves, depending on how you are measuring them) are part of the visible electromagnetic spectrum (380-780 nm) and are detectable via sophisticated modern instrumentation." ,
I enjoyed reading this article that I have just come across about how the sunlight reflected by The Walkie Talkie building in London is so intense that it has burned holes in entrance rugs and bicycle seat covers, melted cars, shattered tiles and even fried an egg in its ferocious heat!!
I do love a good testimonial! Its great to catch up with clients now and then! So many wonderful things can happen in their lives, and I might not always know about it! I heard from the lovely Sally a few months ago and she offered to write me this wonderful testimonial outlining the process we went through together to find her the perfect home!
Autumn Feng Shui
Like in the Springtime, Autumn is an excellent time to declutter, in a mirror image of the bodily detoxification, you can simplify your life and get creative with your organisation.
The scent associated with Autumn is pungent - Cajeput, Eucalyptus and Siberian Fir essential oils are all pungent and the eucalyptus can help keep the space free from germs at this crossover seasonal time.
As a provider of Feng Shui consultation to homes and businesses all over London and overseas, I have supported charities such as Shelter for many years now as I know how the quality of the home of my clients directly affects their lives, and whilst I do enjoy travel immensely and living out of a suitcase now and then, I equally enjoy having my little nest to return to, and can't imagine how difficult, dangerous and lonely it must be, not to mention bitter cold to be living on the streets.
This is why I responded immediately to the call of the Love Brigade and spent a blustery Sunday afternoon on 17th February 2013 with hundreds of other likeminded souls, organising bags of goodies into the 300 'Care Bags' which we then distributed throughout London to either organised shelters or people we randomly found on the street.
Upon my return from a month long holiday/rest in USA, I was pleased to receive a copy of the book "Kids that Dream Big" by Lashai (11 years old) and Tray-Sean Ben Salmi (7 years old), children of my remarkable friend Sabrina Ben Salmi. The young authors encourage children to imagine a greater future for themselves and I was asked for my expert tips on how to support children with Feng Shui. I very much enjoy assisting kids with Feng Shui for sleep, study or help with bullying - see my testimonials section - you'd be amazed how much my Feng Shui has helped a number of the little people in the families I help! :)
Here are the tips I provided in the book! I hope you find them useful and I can certainly help you with more bespoke and more advanced Feng Shui knowledge if you'd rather have an experienced expert help you :) Basic tips can sometimes help, but quite often a more skilled eye is required, so do get in touch. :)
