Chinese Animal Forecast Year of the Water Tiger 2022

Sarah Mcallister • Dec 23, 2021

What does 2022 hold in store for your Chinese Zodiac animal?

2022 Chinese Animal Forecast - Year of the Water Tiger

The Water Tiger year is going to be dynamic, such is the nature of the Tiger. The early part of the year is experiencing a changeover from the Ox, so could retain some elements of feeling like nothing is happening but come the Tiger month of February you will need to hang on to your hat!

The natural element of the Tiger is Yang Wood which is the energy of action taking. It can sometimes act first then think later, but in some situations this is advantageous, just try not to be too impetuous. Yang wood is the large sturdy oak tree or large bamboo, as opposed to delicate ferns and grasses of yin wood, so you get the idea about its powerful energy that is pretty unstoppable.

The Yang Water of the year is Heaven Water, as expressed in downpours, monsoons and large waterfalls and is also fast inspiration, so this year is going to feel relentless. After two years of restriction it will be a welcome catalyst energy for people as they start to understand their inner vision and inner authority and necessarily question the manipulations of the global narrative a bit more.

This water and wood combination in the year is harmonious and adds further power to the vitality of the year, since Water feeds Wood. Unlike a Fire or a Metal Tiger year where the chi is clashing and draining, the Water is giving the Tiger supportive energy.

A theme for the year will be how to balance all aspects of life without overly focussing on career. Having said that, if you feel your career has stagnated over the last few years then you would be wise to double down on your efforts as the chi encourages it.

Wonderfully, the Chinese Horoscope of the year is Strong Wood, so anyone needing Wood energy in their chart should have a particularly good year. Investments in forestry or wellness and holistic healthcare will do well. Fire related businesses such as gas, oil, heating, technology and cooking & restaurants should also do well.

Does all this talk of animals and their chi sound strange? It is helpful to remember that the Chinese sages of old were naturally attuned to universal law, and since this is not a linear type of thinking, they adopted metaphorical language to express the motion and behaviour of energy laws. The Chinese Animals are perfect metaphors to express these different energetic phases - that’s all. And all of these cycles are going on all the time in Big Fate cycles, Monthly cycles, Daily and even Hourly and Minute cycles! The above is only a brief summary. It is such a fascinating study and so rewarding for me to see how the knowledge helps clients of mine to time their activities better and to realise their true nature quicker than if they hadn’t got access to this knowledge.

Feng Shui of 2022

Some of the Feng Shui energies stay the same for decades and even forever, but some of them will change each year and exert an important effect on different areas of the home or office. This year is a 5 Earth year, which places the Black 2 sickness star in the Southwest of the Flying Star this year. The 5 Yellow troublemaker star is in the Centre.

If you have a bedroom, office or main door in either the Centre or the South-West try not to worry, but you would be wise to take some action as both these directions are very active. Usually, a bespoke consultation onsite or over Zoom video is best to help figure out practical cures for your unique circumstances, but on the whole these tips will help:

  • Avoid overstimulating both of these directions with loud music or too much coming and going. If either is your front door then take care not to slam the door, and place some metal objects like a singing bowl or a wok or a big brass umbrella stand to help drain the earth element.

  • Definitely avoid too much red in both these areas. Use white and gold or silver (or chrome or brass, but not copper) items in these directions.

  • Avoid digging up the garden or starting renovations in those directions but if you must carry out building work then hire an expert feng shui consultant like me to choose a good date & time to start the works, as this will help reduce the negative impact.

The good stars also shift and to best understand how to get them to work in your favour it is advisable to have me look at the unique readings of your home or office, since the new stars will interact with your existing chi calculations and need cures that are customised to your unique surroundings.

The Leader of the Year is the Tiger

Those born in the Year of the Tiger are the Leader of the Year - birthdays in 1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022, 2034, 2046 are Tiger people. Unlike 2016 (Year of the Monkey) that was their T’ai Soi, when they were against the leader, this year the Tiger should make smoother progress towards their goals. I would encourage those born in the Year of the Tiger or the Monkey to get in touch for a personalised reading, as these mini-forecasts of course can’t drill down into much detail, particularly as our main influences are associated with our time of birth. We all in fact have FOUR animals in our chart, not just one…! Some practitioners forecast doom and gloom for the Leader of the Year, but that has never been my experience, and indeed not what my Feng Shui Grandmaster taught me either. There are differing schools of thought, but to my mind, learning and experience of my own life and that of my clients over decades, it is always a blessing to have the Grand Duke aligned with your own Chinese Zodiac Animal of the year of birth. So, good news for all those born in the year of the Tiger. It doesn’t mean you can develop a careless attitude, but it does mean that you can take bigger steps where before you might have lacked confidence, and the energy of the year will generally support you. Clearly, there is much more subtlety to more in-depth readings, so do get in touch if you would like me to ‘open’ a full Chinese Horoscope for you.

How the natural forces of the universe affect the energies of the year is a fascinating subject called forecasting and refers to our Heaven Luck. I prefer the term forecast rather than prediction as I consider it more accurate and it also creates more psychological space to harness our Human Luck in order to better weather the forecast whereas prediction somehow sounds too final. We are never meant to feel victimized by the forecasts as this creates self-fulfilling prophecies, however, if we are forewarned we are forearmed and can fine-tune our strategies.

Time of Birth Forecast

The full Four Pillars Chinese Horoscope is based on the Year, Month, Day and Hour of birth and is very bespoke to the individual. This forecast is based on the YEAR only, so it will provide a very general outlook for each animal sign and is meant to help you weaken or avoid bad luck, and increase your alignment to the good luck. Please do understand that both your individual detailed horoscope and the Feng Shui of your home or office will greatly contribute to how you combine with the energies and if you want to engage at a deeper level then consider having your full horoscope ‘opened’ or a full professional Feng Shui consultation. DIY horoscopes or Feng Shui are not recommended! You can ORDER ONLINE HERE

Wishing you a joyful and prosperous 2022 Year of the Water Tiger!

"Sarah's guidance is precise, compassionate and insightful allowing me to make more intelligent decisions in my business and relationships. It's like having your own magic eight ball. She is very knowledgeable and methodical but also highly intuitive. I have no hesitation in recommending her."

Cassandra De La Thea, Relationship Expert

Clearly, your individual chart will interact differently with the year and offer more bespoke detail and the feng shui of your home or office will have its own chi patterns. To get the best results from Chinese metaphysics it is always advisable to look not just at your space, but also your timing and your inner attitude and mindset as well.

How to work out your Chinese Animal sign?

For those of you born from in the months of January to November you take the year of your birth from the lists below, however, if you are born around the Winter Solstice i.e.. between 20 Dec to 31 Dec then you will belong to the following year for example, someone born on 26th December 2009 might think they are an Ox but in fact the energy of the year has renewed at Winter Solstice and now become the Tiger i.e.. 2010. You do not work out from the Spring Festival dates in February as this is inaccurate.

Commenting on a Southern Hemisphere birthchart I analysed “I sensed you were someone who ‘knows their stuff’ – this chart is so much more me than the other I had done. Thank you” R Hagenbuch, Sydney, Australia

Rat 1912, 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008, 2020, 2032, 2044

The Rat will sigh a breath of relief as the sickness star moves out of the North and the vitality star moves in, which should bring back their drive and ability to fulfil their potential. Don’t take part in high risk activities this year though since you have some disaster energy in your direction. Also take good care of all details of paperwork so that your energy and efforts are protected and can grow steadily rather than all end in disappointment. On the whole the energy of the Water Tiger will pull you forward, so get creative and busy! The Rat will also need to take extra care in matters of intimacy, to make sure that they don’t get involved with extramarital affairs or with people with questionable sexual hygiene. Stay protected.

Ox 1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, 2021, 2033, 2045

The Ox this year might feel a little drained and could feel a little lonely this year, but on the bright side they will have the protection of very powerful auspicious star, so it might be a good time to undertake solo pursuits like a sabbatical or a pilgrimage or a silent retreat, for example. If you start to struggle with feelings of isolation then make sure you reach out to friends and family and stay connected to people. Make the most of your friends born in the Year of the Rat and the Rooster as these are good allies for you.

“I really enjoyed reading the horoscope report you gave me and found it really insightful. I have to say, I have consulted with a lot of the world’s top astrologers and no-one had pointed out that theme from childhood. I have to give you a lot of credit for that.” Johne Kalaaj, Businessman, New York

Tiger 1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022, 2034, 2046

The Tiger is the Leader of the Year, so they should enjoy success in their endeavours since the main force of the annual energy is aligned to them. Obviously, it does depend on the specific type of Tiger year you are born in (Water, Wood, Fire, Earth or Metal Tiger) and the rest of your Chinese Horoscope based on the different animals of the Time, Day, Month and Year of birth too, but on the whole some positive force favours the Tiger. The Tiger has the travel star so might be overseas for much of the year or relocate. You are also blessed with a powerful auspicious star to help keep you in positive energy. Water and Wood Tigers are especially well placed so make the most of your time by staying focussed and effective! Hang out with friends born in year of the Horse, Dog and Pig this year but obviously not excluding anyone not in that category!

"Sarah is a genius! Chris and I really enjoyed our horoscope partnership reading with her. It was a wonderful experience. Neither of us had ever had our chart read before, and we knew little about Chinese astrology. Sarah was able to explain everything in a way that was easily understandable and immediately relevant and applicable to our lives. We learnt a lot about ourselves and about each other - practical information that we are still using to this day. Sarah's accuracy on the timing of specific events in our lives was incredible, and has been extremely helpful as we plan future events for our life and business too.If you are looking to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your partner, and invaluable insight into the specific timing of important events you might be planning in your life, I highly recommend booking a consultation with Sarah!" Kate Gerry and Chris Kenney, New York

Rabbit 1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011, 2023, 2036, 2047

The Rabbit could feel a little more feisty this year than usual so do take care not to let anger get the better of you this year - try to manage any emotions like this with regular exercise and tendon stretching like Yoga. The Money God is blessing you this year and also some reinvigoration of your career.

“I wanted to tell you how much of a difference your astrology reading of our compatibility and interaction made. It really helped me to see the dynamics at play when we were together at home and when we were outside in the world – really detailed and really insightful. It helped me to really relax and find acceptance. Thank you.” Ingrid von Burg (Greene) Los Angeles, USA

Dragon 1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, 2024, 2036, 2048

The Dragon has good earning potential this year and might benefit from small windfalls out of the blue. They could suffer from a little loneliness this year though, so make sure you reach out if you feel isolated in any way. Or use the energy to go on a sabbatical, silent retreat or undertake a new solo hobby. Career should also receive a boost for the Dragon, so if you have been putting off seeking a promotion or a new job, now is the time to go for it, particularly in April.

Snake 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, 2025, 2037, 2049

This is a good year for the Snake to start a new course or to teach something and to try a new venture since luck is on your side for the most part. There could be feelings of loneliness though so if you are single try to reach out to connect with friends and to go out dating more so you don’t withdraw into yourself. It would also be a good time to take time for yourself with a silent retreat or a sabbatical, just make sure to keep the balance between introspection and socialising. Your career should receive a boost so it could be the best time to prioritise work over pleasure as the rewards should be worth it in the end.

Horse 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954,1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014, 2026, 2038, 2050

The Horse aligns very well with the Tiger so they should enjoy a fun year and possibly also some new romance too. There is an indication that they might get involved in marital dispute or relationship problems and maybe also sexual difficulties so make sure any intimacy is safe so you don’t contract anything or have an unwanted pregnancy. You might feel a niggling sense of tiredness so try to team up with friends born in the year of the Tiger more this year as their positivity will rub off on you a little.

“I had the Chinese Horoscope done for myself and fiancee and it was truly remarkable. It was insightful, specific and very accurate. It pinpointed our personalities and indicated the best time for making big life decisions. Having been told by Harley Street experts that we could not have children, we followed the advice about timing and are now proud parents to two healthy children. Highly recommended!” Paula Clancy, W Hotel Group

Sheep/Goat 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015, 2027, 2039, 2051

The Sheep will need to look after their health this year as there is a sickness star in the SW which is their natal direction. Depending on your level of consciousness it could also mean that you discover the solution to a longstanding niggling condition and find new ways to boost your health. Good financial prospects bless the sheep this year so it will be a good year to make wise investments or maybe even receive a small windfall. A powerfully auspicious star blesses you this year as well but do take care with any paperwork or financial dealings with others so that you don’t lose energy.

Monkey 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016, 2028, 2040, 2052

The Monkey is against the leader this year, so 2022 will either make or break you. If you have a strong chart there is an increased likelihood that it will stimulate you to make long overdue changes and you find the year helps you progress long held goals, but if you have a weak chart then it might overwhelm you and you end up with lots of setbacks. Get in touch for a personalised reading so we can help you reduce the negative influences and boost positive energy at your property and in your life. In general though the Monkey does need to take care of their health more this year since there is a sickness star in your natal direction. Hanging out with your friends born in the year of the Snake or the Rat will help to boost your energy. Wearing a string of red embroidery silk around your waist all year will be helpful. Replace if it wears thin and breaks.

“It was very surprising what Sarah could assess about my private and career life! It helped me to gain unexpected insights and also provided some wise and practical advice for the next 5-10 years. Really good value for money.” S H, Ethical Fund Manager, Frankfurt

Rooster 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017, 2029, 2041, 2053

The Rooster will need to take care in any financial dealings with people this year, so make sure to double check all terms and paperwork. You might find 2022 brings a new romance or if in relationship a better and more romantic time with your partner. Good allies this year are the Dragon, Snake and Ox.

“I was amazed at how accurate Sarah’s Chinese Horoscope was for me, from key events in my past to my specific health problems and what practical measures I can take to support myself.” Sara Hannan, UK

Dog 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018, 2030, 2042, 2054

The Dog will be relieved to hear that this year is more favourable for them than last year and there is strong financial luck available for you. Health and energy levels should also be good. Teaming up with people born in the year of the Horse and the Tiger is especially advantageous this year. If you start to feel a little oppressed by situations this year though, do voice your concerns early and assert yourself, so that you don’t end up feeling crushed.

'When I asked Sarah to do my Ba Zi chart, I was not quite sure what to expect. When reading through my report, I was amazed to discover how accurate the information was, in terms of reflecting back to me certain personality traits, as well as trends in how my life has unfolded so far. This has inspired me to take the Ba Zi course, in order to have a deeper understanding of the power of Chinese Astrology, and to be able to offer this knowledge to future clients'. Lauren Burger, Acupuncturist, USA

Pig 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019, 2031, 2043

The Pig will enjoy a good year as they align very well with the Tiger, plus they will have good energy and health. They will however need to be mindful of other people pinching their energy, so make sure you double check all important contracts or agreements with people and definitely avoid scam artists this year.

“Meeting Sarah has been both interesting and informative, I have had a Chinese horoscope and also a monthly one which I would recommend to everybody. I have started to use the information contained to put some water energy into my home which since doing this has helped the work flow in… I am also looking longer term to relocate to an area which suits my energy better and the horoscope gave me really useful guidelines on climate and directions that helped me narrow my search with confidence. I shall certainly be working with Sarah on my new home in Spain. Many thanks for you help so far and I look forward to working with you again in the near future.” Paul Follows, UK
